BurnLog - AI Food Tracker & Fasting

Last Updated: March 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how BurnLog ("we", "us", or "our")
handles your information when you use the BurnLog mobile application
(the "App"). We have designed BurnLog with privacy as a core
principle — not an afterthought.

---

1. The Short Version

- We do not collect your personal data
- We do not have servers that store your information
- We do not sell, share, or transmit your data to third parties
- Everything you enter into BurnLog stays on your device
- We do not require an account or email address to use the App
- Your one-time purchase does not involve a subscription or
recurring billing

---

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

We want to be explicit. BurnLog does NOT collect, transmit, or
store any of the following:

- Your name, age, height, or weight
- Your food logs, meal photos, or calorie data
- Your fasting history, streaks, or badges
- Your weight tracking history
- Your step count or activity data
- Your water intake logs
- Your hunger tracking entries
- Your device identifiers or IP address
- Your location
- Crash logs or usage analytics

None of this information ever leaves your device.

---

3. Data Stored Locally On Your Device

When you use BurnLog, the following information is stored
exclusively on your device using local storage (SQLite and
AsyncStorage):

- Profile information: name, age, height, weight, and goals
you enter during onboarding
- Food logs: meal entries, photos, and AI-calculated macros
- Fasting sessions: start times, end times, and completion
status
- Weight logs: daily weight entries and trend data
- Water intake: daily hydration logs
- Step data: daily step counts synced from Apple Health or
Google Fit
- Hunger logs: hunger type and intensity entries
- Achievements: badges, streaks, and goal progress

This data is yours. It lives on your device and nowhere else.
Deleting the App permanently deletes all of this data.

---

4. AI Food Analysis

BurnLog uses OpenAI's API to analyse food photos and text
descriptions to calculate calories, macros, and health scores.

When you snap a photo or type a food description:

- The image or text is sent to OpenAI's API for analysis
- OpenAI returns the nutritional breakdown to your device
- The result is stored locally on your device only
- We do not store, log, or have access to what you send to
OpenAI or what OpenAI returns

Please refer to [OpenAI's Privacy Policy](https://openai.com/privacy)
for information on how OpenAI handles API requests. OpenAI's API
data usage policies apply to these requests.

---

5. Apple Health & Google Fit

BurnLog may request permission to read step count and activity
data from Apple Health (iOS) or Google Fit (Android).

- We only **read** data — we do not write to Apple Health or
Google Fit beyond what you explicitly enable
- Step and activity data is displayed within the App only
- This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party
- You can revoke this permission at any time through your device
settings

---

6. Notifications

BurnLog uses local push notifications to remind you about your
fasting windows. These notifications are:

- Scheduled entirely on your device
- Not routed through any external server
- Not used to collect any data about you
- Fully controllable through your device notification settings

---

7. Biometric Authentication

BurnLog uses Face ID or Touch ID (via your device's secure
biometric system) to protect access to the App.

- Biometric data is handled entirely by your device's operating
system (iOS or Android)
- BurnLog never accesses, stores, or transmits biometric data
- We only receive a pass/fail result from the system — nothing more

---

8. One-Time Purchase

BurnLog is a paid app with a one-time purchase. We do not offer
subscriptions. Payment is processed entirely by Apple (App Store)
or Google (Play Store). We do not collect or store any payment
information. Please refer to Apple's or Google's privacy policies
for information on how they handle payment data.

---

9. Children's Privacy

BurnLog is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do
not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
Since all data is stored locally on your device, no personal
information is transmitted to us at any time.

---

10. Third-Party Services

BurnLog interacts with the following third-party services:

| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI API | Food photo and text analysis | Food image or text description only, per scan |
| Apple Health | Read step and activity data | None — read only |
| Google Fit | Read step and activity data | None — read only |
| Apple App Store | Payment processing | Handled by Apple |
| Google Play Store | Payment processing | Handled by Google |

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the
privacy practices of these third-party services.

---

11. Data Security

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, the security
of your data depends primarily on the security of your device.
We recommend:

- Enabling a device passcode or biometric lock
- Keeping your operating system up to date
- Not sharing your device with untrusted individuals

BurnLog adds an additional layer of security through Face ID or
Touch ID authentication on every app launch.

---

12. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store any of your personal data on
our servers, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct,
or delete on our end. All your data resides on your device and
is fully under your control at all times.

To delete all your data: simply uninstall BurnLog from your device.

---

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes
will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top
of this document. We encourage you to review this policy
periodically.
